Quote:

“It is in the home that we form our attitudes, our deeply held beliefs. It is in the home that hope is fostered or destroyed. Our homes are to be more than sanctuaries; they should also be places where God’s Spirit can dwell, where the storm stops at the door, where love reigns and peace dwells.”

This week we talked about the different gender roles in our families, how they differ, or whether they are the same as those in society today. I was able to talk with one of my classmates about the roles played in our own families; it was really interesting to see that the roles our parents played were very similar; on the other hand, the roles that we played, as well as those of our siblings were very different.  It seems to me that most gender roles can be interchangeable, depending on who can do what best, and what they most enjoy; then there are those that are the responsibility of a male, and those that are the responsibility of a female. I am really glad that we have the truths, concerning our specific roles, laid out before us in The Proclamation on the Family. I hope to apply the things that I have learned this week to my own family in the future.
